Chapter 3:     The Only True Source

Prophecy is a proof of God and His Word, the Bible.  Approximately 30% of your Bible is prophecy, and a large amount of that pertains to the years immediately ahead of us, the end of this present age and the transition to the next.  A thorough study of the prophecy in God's Word and its precise fulfillment through the ages of mankind is one of the strongest proofs that God exists and that the Bible is His word.  In fact, there is no written book of man that has such a volume of prophecy with the accompanying precision of fulfillment.

God Himself issues an important challenge in the book of Isaiah against all false gods and false worship.  Isaiah 44:6  "Thus says the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts:  I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.  7. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them.  8. Fear not, neither be afraid: have not I told you from that time, and have declared it?  You are even my witnesses.  Is there a God beside me?  Yea, there is no God; I know not any."

God challenges that no other god exists who can declare the things that are coming and shall come.

God continues in this same dialogue for the next few chapters.  Isaiah 44:24  "Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, and he that formed you from the womb, I am the LORD that makes all things; that stretches forth the heavens alone; that spreads abroad the earth by myself; 25. That frustrates the tokens of the liars, and makes diviners mad; (Speaking of False Prophets) that turns wise men backward, and makes their knowledge foolish; 26.  That confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers; (Speaking of those who faithfully speak His words)"

Isaiah 45:18 "For thus says the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he has established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.  19.  I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek you me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.  20.  Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.  21.  Tell you, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together; who has declared this from ancient time?  Who has told it from that time?  Have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me.  22.  Look unto me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  23.  I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. "

Isaiah 46:9  "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10.  Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:"

God is the source of any true prophecy.  He alone can, from the beginning of His creation of man, reveal the great plan and purpose He is working out on this earth.  He alone has the power to proclaim the future thousands of years in advance and bring it to pass in an extremely precise manner.  This Proof of the True God is a vital element to those who would escape the terrible trials coming on this world very shortly.

The educational systems and universities of our nations infuse our generations with the errant supposition that there is no God.  This world will soon be swayed to the almost opposite extreme of religious fervor by the great miracles and lying wonders performed by the False Prophet.  Both belief systems will have deadly consequences for those deceived by them.

Jesus Christ made a statement that reveals the source of true prophecy in Matthew 24:36  "But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

He also says in John 12:49 "For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak."

So, God the Father is the source of true prophecy.  Jesus further said in His prayer to the Father on the Passover just before His great sacrifice, John 17:17 "Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth."

How has God 'Declared the end from the Beginning'?

We have seen, though, that God challenges that He has 'Declared the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.'  How has He done this?

Amos 3:6 "Shall a trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid?  Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD has not done it?  7.  Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets.  8.  The lion has roared, who will not fear?  The LORD God has spoken, who can but prophesy?"

Throughout the Old Testament, God gave prophecies to 'His servants the prophets.'  Many times these prophesies were not understood by even the prophets to whom God gave them because they were written for a witness and testimony for our time, the end of this age.  A notable example of this is recorded in Daniel 12:8-9 "And I (Daniel) heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?  9.  And he said, Go your way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end."

One Key indication that we are at 'the time of the end' is that these prophecies are now open to understanding to those who will seek God.  There are more indications.  The author here recommends Tomorrow's World Bible Study Course available online at: https://www.twbiblecourse.org/
provided free of charge by the Living Church of God.  The first two lessons of this valuable tool of understanding expound the implications that we are living at the end of this age.  This course will lead the student through the proofs of many other areas of understanding from God's word.

The Key Revelator

Hebrews 1:1 "God, who at sundry times and in different manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2.  Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"

Moses had prophesied of Christ in Deuteronomy 18:15 "The LORD your God will raise up a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken;"

The Jews at the time of Christ's earthly ministry knew of this prophecy and in John 1:21 asked John the Baptist if he was 'That Prophet'.

Christ told the Jews, John 5:46 "For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me."

Peter confirmed that this prophecy was of Christ in Acts 3: 20 "And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21.  Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began22.  For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A Prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you."

We are told in Revelation 19:10 "...for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

God is an Orderly God

God is an orderly God.  He does things in an orderly manner, and according to His purpose and timing and Plan.  We can see this trait of God described in several places in His Word.  It is very important to recognize that God works according to plan, purpose, and timing.  Lack of this understanding blinds an individual from the knowledge of God.  Lack of this information can lead to the misconception that God is in some titanic battle for souls with the Devil.  If this were so, and considering the condition of the world one would have to conclude that Satan was winning.  If so, wouldn't that mean Satan was stronger?

We should consider these questions: Is God desperately trying to save the world now?  If so isn't He failing?  What about all those who have lived throughout the generations of man and never even heard of Jesus Christ?  Are they 'lost'?  Will they suffer forever in a hell fire simply because they never were given the chance?  What is truly the destiny of man?  Is God working according to a great plan or is He simply doing damage control in a desperate attempt to save some?  Does God have a time schedule?

The False Religion of this world cannot answer these questions.  Yet God has given the understanding of these paramount questions to His true church.  This is a test whether a church is a False Church or the True Church of God:  Isaiah 8:19 "And when they shall say unto you, 'Seek unto them who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,' should not a people seek unto their God?  Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? 20.  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

God's true church on the other hand is spoken of in these terms: I Timothy 3: 15 "But if I tarry long, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."

Thessalonians 5: 21 instructs: "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."  If the church you attend cannot answer these and other foundational and primary questions, provable by and from the Word of God, it is a false church.  In a later chapter a comparison of the true and provable doctrines of God's Word and the false doctrines promulgated by the religion of the world, which have no basis in scripture, will be presented.

Let's now look at some of the scriptures that reveal this orderly attribute of God.

I Corinthians 14:33 "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints."

I Corinthians 13:40 "Let all things be done decently and in order."

I Corinthians 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.  23. But every man in his own order: Christ the Firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.  24. Then comes the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.  25. For he must reign, till he has put all enemies under his feet."

Why is it such a foreign concept to most that God has a Great Plan and Purpose that He is bringing about on this earth?  Companies and businesses of this world lay out five year and ten year plans and goals.  Why do many think God operates in crisis management mode?  God does have a great plan and purpose that He has been bringing about since the beginning and according to His will and timing.

Now consider again Jesus Christ's statement in Matthew 24: 36  "But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."  It may suprise some that God the Father reveals His plan to even Jesus Christ as He determines it is appropriate!  In this scripture Christ is showing that even He did not have all information.  Why?  Why would the Father withold this from Christ?  At the time this was said, Christ had not completed His ministry or perfect sacrifice for mankind.  He had not died, been resurrected, ascended to the Father or been confirmed and accepted by the Father as the Atonement for man's sins.  Since that time Christ has completed His sacrifice, been accepted as the Atonement, and set on the Right Hand of God.

Christ later, after His resurrection, again answers a similiar question from the Apostles in Acts 1:6 "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, will you at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?  And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in his own power."  Notice that this time Christ did not use the earlier exclusion that God the Father alone had this knowledge; only that it was in His power.  However it was still not given for the Apostles to know at that time.

Now compare Revelation 1: 1 "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John"

When did God give these things to Jesus Christ to give to His servants?

In Revelation chapters 4 & 5, we are given an inspiring glimpse of God's Throne and surroundings.  Revelation 5: 1 "And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.  2. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?"  (Note:  This book as we will see gives the final framework from God the Father of the events of the end time.  Prior to the opening of this book no other being had this information as the next verse instructs.)  "3. And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.  4. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.  5. And one of the elders said unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.  6. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.  7. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.  8. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.  9. And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10.  And have made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."

Notice the timing markers: a Lamb as it had been slain; for you were slain and have redeemed.  So as those things took place after Christ first gave the information of Matthew 24:36 we understand that God the Father has revealed much more of the information of the End Time Events to Christ who in turn has revealed to His servants.

It should now be clear that the Source of true prophecy only comes from God the Father which He gives to Jesus Christ, who in turn gives to His servants, who in turn are instructed to take this information into all the world for a warning and a witness.

In the next chapters of this work the Framework of end time events will be laid out and the sequencing templates given in God's Word examined.  This will give the outline structure which will then be filled in with description from God's Word as the events occur in the Framework.
